In the Great Karoo of South Africa we have time and space to create things.
Late in 2010 three women got together, hoping that they could start something through which women in the little village of Prince Albert could generate an income. Combining the age old crafting skills of some women with the design ideas of others and the administrative strengths of another, they succeeded.
Today, Handmade Karoo Handgemaak has on average 30 participants who earn the income from what they make by hand – handmade livelihoods through handmade products.
With a focus on using the best quality, natural materials and attention to design and detail, the product range has developed over time to include unique items, beautiful in its simplicity.
